On tour with Joanna Lumley in the Land of the Northern Lights.
The last season I was lucky enough to get Joanna Lumley as a guest while she was making the documentary: “Joanna Lumley in the Land of the Northern Lights” where she travel from Trondheim to Svalbard. I also worked for Takeaway Media, the production company of this documentary, and helped them with transportation, still photos, footage of the Northern lights( used in northern light sequens in the programme) and also assist them generally to make their job as easy as possible.
Quote from BBC Press Office:
Joanna: “We saw a bit of a showing on another night, but not enough to film and, because we were on a tight schedule and all had other jobs lined up, we were stuck. It was almost our last night and we were getting a little bit tense when this extraordinary man, Kjetil Skogli – an Aurora expert – came to assist us. He told us that conditions where we were would be bad again, but he had a feeling that if we went to a particular fjord we might have a good chance. So we drove like mad to set up the equipment and get into our survival kit.”

The programme collected 6.6 mill. viewers on BBC One the 7th September.

I hardly has to tell you what a pleasure and honnor it was for me to meet and work with Joanna and the crew. On top of this they’ve given me this most kindly feeback:
From the lovely Joanna Lumley:
Dear Kjetil.
This is an open letter to say what an honour it was to
meet you, and to work with you, and to tell you of the profound
impact your astonishing photography has had on the viewing public of
Britain. I have received hundreds of letters from people deeply
affected by the splendour of the Northern Lights, which there was no
way of seeing before your painstaking filming. You were so kind to us
all: do you remember how COLD it was, and how windy! and yet how,
strangely, all the cold seemed to vanish while we stared at those
ribbons and curtains of light. Without your survival suits we would
be dead, just clumps of frozen earth, still gripping equipment and
wearing hats; but without your intuition and wisdom and experience we
may never have seen the Aurora Borealis at all. Thank you again and
again for every bit of it; your friendship and knowledge and
generosity and for YOU, dear friend. No-one who hopes to see the
Northern Lights in Norway should fail to be in touch with you. One
day I hope to return with my husband, but until then I treasure a
lasting memory of glimpsing paradise in our dazzling film.
With much love , Joanna.
Archie Baron,Director Takeawaymedia:
“Kjetil Skogli is, as we used to say when filming Joanna Lumley in the Land of the Northern Lights, the man. He is Mr. Northern Lights. There can be no better person worldwide to help people find the lights and experience them in full, leaving memories to last a lifetime. Kjetil will, without doubt, plan a trip to maximize the chances of finding the Northern Lights (and if the weather means there’s no chance he’ll tell you straight). He’ll drive half the night if needs be to track them down. He is really well equipped to help you see them in comfort and safety. He’ll help you photograph them so you bring back amazing shots. And he’s really knowledgeable about the Lights and
